Concepting an Ergonomic Kayak Pedal System

In this MSOE course project I worked with a partner to design a seated pedal system in
SOLIDWORKS that will be used in the annual Seventy48 race on the Pacific Coast.

The goal of this project was to create an ergonomic and efficient pedal drive seat and
system that could be easily attached to the boat the client had selected.

My responsibilities in this project were to sketch and prototype our initial concepts, use a
decision matrix to select our final concept, then created the parts using SOLIDWORKS,
importing some parts from McMaster-Carr and building the custom pieces as well before
combining them all into a I also attended and took notes of client meetings to understand
the End User’s specific needs and any potential pain points.

The final project was a success. The SOLIDWORKS model clearly demonstrated the
functionality of our prototype. Our final submission earned full points.
